Jada Pinkett Smith Opens Up About Marriage Separation Since 2016.

In a candid interview, Jada Pinkett Smith revealed that she and her husband, Will Smith, have been living separate lives since 2016. This revelation follows years of private separation, and the couple decided not to disclose it to the public until now.
According to Pinkett Smith, the decision to separate came when both of them felt “exhausted with trying.” They continue to live apart, but they have no intentions of pursuing a divorce.
Pinkett Smith, at 52, shared that she had made a promise to herself never to divorce Smith, who is 55, and she remains committed to keeping that promise. Reflecting on their past, she noted, “I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.”
The timing of this disclosure aligns with the imminent launch of Jada Pinkett Smith’s upcoming memoir, entitled “Worthy.”
Last year, the couple made headlines when Will Smith confronted host Chris Rock on the Oscars stage and slapped him after a joke about Pinkett Smith being bald. The actress has alopecia, a condition that causes hair loss.
In a separate interview with People, Pinkett Smith admitted that at first, she believed the incident was part of a planned joke, only realizing it was not when Will returned to his seat. She expressed her support for him, saying, “I’m going to be by his side but also allow him to figure this out for himself.”
Speculation about the state of their marriage arose in 2020 when they discussed Pinkett Smith’s “entanglement” with artist August Alsina on her Facebook show, “Red Table Talk.”
Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith first crossed paths in 1994 when she auditioned for his show “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” They exchanged vows in 1997 and are parents to two children, Jaden Smith and Willow Smith, as well as Trey Smith, who is Will’s son from his prior marriage to Sheree Zampino.
