After dedicating seven years to the project, Geri Halliwell-Horner, a former member of the Spice Girls, has unveiled her latest literary creation – a young adult novel titled ‘Rosie Frost and the Falcon Queen.

In response to inquiries about her emotions concerning the book’s launch, Geri drew a parallel, likening it to the experience of pregnancy. ” During a recent Zoom interview with PEOPLE in late September, Geri elaborated, “You’re excited, and there’s a little bit of trepidation at the same time. It’s like, ‘Here it comes. You have no control over the result, but you’ve successfully accomplished it.
” ‘Rosie Frost and the Falcon Queen,’ now available, tells the story of Rosie Frost, an orphan who is sent to a school for extraordinary teenagers on the mysterious Bloodstone Island after her mother’s passing. When the island faces a dire threat, Rosie must participate in her school’s prestigious Falcon Queen games to save it. For Geri Halliwell-Horner, 51, the book has been a labor of love, a project she started crafting seven years ago. She had previously published her children’s book series, ‘Ugenia Lavender,’ in 2008. She reflects on her writing process, saying, “I would disappear for hours in my writing shed because you have to be quite disciplined. You just get lost when you’re writing. It’s very consuming. She fondly remembers how her husband, Christian Horner, 49, used to jest, “Where have you disappeared to?” when he noticed her deep in her writing. She recounts his words, saying, “He mentioned, ‘I won’t read it until you’ve completed it, until it’s officially released, or you have a final copy.'” She adds with a smile, “Yesterday, as he boarded a plane, I handed him one of the initial copies of the book.”
“On his flight, Christian, the Team Principal of the Red Bull Formula One team, sent Geri an encouraging text: “I’ve read the first 135 pages. The book is great. It captivates you, and it truly draws you into its world. Better than I imagined. I’m very proud of you. Geri was elated by his response and recounted the moment with a beaming smile.
Geri’s daughter, Bluebell, 17, adopted a similar approach to reading the book, vowing to do so only when it was completed. However, Geri notes that she occasionally shared select scenes with Bluebell for input. The book uses humor to balance more serious themes such as grief and climate change.

Geri elaborates, “Beneath the rapid action and adventure, there’s an underlying iceberg.” It’s there if you want it. As you reach the conclusion and encounter those profound inquiries about lithium, it’s meant for the reader who wonders, “Is this factual?” I’ve, in a way, amplified the intensity.
up on reality just a little bit.” While bringing attention to contemporary issues, Geri also wanted to incorporate historical elements. The book includes a history lesson on figures like Anne Boleyn, the ill-fated second wife of King Henry VIII who was executed for treason. Despite advice not to touch on Anne Boleyn due to her lack of popularity, Geri decided to shed light on her story. She believes that if Anne Boleyn lived in modern times, she might have been part of the #MeToo movement, considering her tragic fate and abandonment of her daughter. Geri’s personal experiences with grief, especially the loss of her father Laurence in 1993, influenced the book. She recalls the moment she was informed of her father’s passing while studying English literature in a classroom, a memory she shares with the book’s protagonist. This experience led her to develop a different perspective on life and a heightened awareness of mortality. Reflecting on her career, Geri, who joined the Spice Girls shortly after her father’s death, emphasizes her enduring passion for words.
“Prior to my time with the Spice Girls, I delved into English literature and drama, so my connection to it has always been profound,” she explains. “When I ventured into the world of music, I consistently harnessed the potency of lyrics and the impact of words,” she adds.

” Now, along with her book, Geri is releasing two original songs, further showcasing her artistic versatility. She acknowledges that her family plays a crucial role in her fulfillment. Whether it’s putting her son to bed, taking him to school, or cheering on her husband, Christian Horner, she feels blessed by these moments. Geri also expresses her excitement about coming to America to connect with people from diverse backgrounds. ‘Rosie Frost and the Falcon Queen’ is now available for readers to enjoy.
