
Google has launched the AI Opportunity Initiative for Europe, aiming to democratize AI technology.
The initiative is supported by €25 million in funding from Google‘s charitable arm, Google.org, dedicated to assisting nonprofits and social enterprises in tackling social and environmental issues.
The AI Opportunity Initiative for Europe focuses on vulnerable and underserved communities, pledging to provide essential training and skills to ensure everyone can benefit from the technology and avoid being marginalized.
Google announces €25 million funding for AI training in Europe:
€10 million of the €25 million fund is allocated to training workers for the evolving job landscape.
To reach as many individuals as possible, Google, along with the Initiative’s partner, the Centre for Public Impact, invites social enterprises and nonprofits to submit applications to provide resources and training.
Regarding AI’s transformative advantages and its potential to widen existing inequalities, Adrian Brown, Executive Director of the Centre for Public Impact, stated, “This new initiative will empower individuals across Europe to enhance their understanding, skills, and confidence in AI, ensuring inclusivity for all.”
Google additionally announced a new series of Google for Startups Growth Academies across EMEA aimed at assisting startups in leveraging AI to address significant societal issues in sectors such as health, education, and cybersecurity.
The company expanded its AI education by introducing AI foundational courses in 18 languages, available free of charge to everyone.
