
A 6.3 magnitude earthquake has rattled Western Afghanistan, occurring shortly after two similar quakes claimed over 1,200 lives. This recent quake struck 28 kilometers northwest of Herāt, Afghanistan, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). Additional seismic activity was reported, with a 5.0 magnitude quake in the same vicinity followed by a 4.1 magnitude quake in Chahār Burj, southeast of Herāt.

The combined death toll from the recent strong earthquakes in western Afghanistan now stands at a tragic 1,294, with over 1,600 individuals injured, as reported by the U.N.’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the World Health Organization.
