On Friday, an individual set themselves on fire in an apparent protest outside an Atlanta office building housing the Israeli consulate, resulting in critical injuries.
Atlanta Fire Chief Roderick Smith reported that the protester suffered third-degree burns across their body, and a security guard attempting to intervene also sustained burns to the wrist and leg.
A Palestinian flag was discovered at the scene, but Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum stated there is no indication of terrorism, considering it an extreme political protest.
